Please remember that prescription REFILLS can be obtained by contacting your PHARMACY. If you are unsure if you have refills left on the prescription, please call your pharmacy first. If you are out of refills, the pharmacy can send a renewal request to us!
In contrast, prescription RENEWALS are when you are out of refills and must get a new order from the HEALTHCARE PROVIDER. When you have a routine follow-up appointment, be sure to ask your healthcare provider to renew any prescriptions at that time. This will ensure you do not run out of your medications. If you missed your last scheduled appointment, you will most likely need to be seen prior to your prescription being renewed.
After normal business hours, please do not call the healthcare provider to request a prescription RENEWAL. Such requests will not be honored. You can leave a message with the office that can be addressed the next business day.
Prescriptions that are eligible for RENEWAL without being seen by the healthcare provider require 72 hours for processing. The front desk can determine if an appointment is required. Please allow enough time to process a prescription renewal request before running out of your medication.
Please have the following information available when you call:
- patient's full legal name
- date of birth
- medication name
- medication strength and dosing
- pharmacy name with phone number
- your callback number
Please note that prescriptions for controlled substances, (e.g. pain medication, ADHD, etc.) must be filled within 7 days of the original prescription date.
If a prior authorization is required for your prescription, please allow 3-4 business days for the office to submit the prior authorization to your insurance.
Once a prior authorization is submitted to your insurance, we will contact you once your insurance has made a decision.
The office has no control over the prior authorization process once it is submitted to your insurance.
